美國總統川普不顧西方盟邦的苦苦相勸，在5月8日宣布廢止與伊朗達成的「核子協議」。土耳其總統埃爾多安透過幕僚轉述認為「美國的舉動是個錯誤」，一紙核子協議的廢除對於土耳其來說風險、機遇並陳，也都是挑戰。
